MICROBLADING

Also known as eyebrow embroidery, feathering or etching, microblading is just one of the "permanent makeup" procedures. Microblading is especially appealing lately, given the beauty trend for thick brows.  As the name suggests, microblading uses a very small blade to deposit pigment under the skin, giving the appearance of hair. It can be used by those who want to toss their eyebrow pencil, or it can be used in more extreme cases such as for patients with hair loss.  Microblading takes about an hour and a half to two hours, it isn't actually permanent; it lasts about a year but has a very natural look.

Pre Treatment Instructions:

  • Bring your cosmetic eyeliner, eyebrow, and lip color. If you prefer a specific brand of makeup remover, please bring that product as well.
  • Try not to wear face makeup to your appointment.
  • If you are having an eyebrow procedure, any tweezing or waxing should be done at least 48 hours prior to the procedure, electrolysis no less than five days before.
  • If you are having an eyeliner procedure, eyelash and/or eyebrow tinting or eyelash perming should be done no sooner than 48 hours before or two weeks after an eyebrow or eyeliner procedure.
  • If you are having an eyeliner procedure, do not wear contact lenses during or immediately following the procedure. Be sure and bring your glasses with you to the appointment, as well as a storage case for your lenses. It is recommended that you refrain from the use of contact lenses for a minimum of 2 days or until your eyes return to their normal condition after an eyeliner procedure. If you have any questions regarding when to resume wearing your contacts, contacting your eye care provider for specific directions regarding when you may resume use of your contacts is recommended.
  • If you are having a lip procedure and have any history of, or concern regarding cold sores/fever blisters/herpes simplex I, you will be requested to contact your physician to obtain the proper prescription medication to help prevent such outbreaks.
  • If you are having a lip procedure, exfoliate the lips, morning and evening, lightly with a washcloth or your toothbrush. This will remove the dry excess skin from the lip tissue, which can interfere with the lip procedure. Drink ample amounts of water to keep the lips in good condition.
  • Refrain from the use of alcohol, aspirin-containing products, Vitamins A and E for 3 days before your procedure. These products thin the blood. Note: Never discontinue use of any medication, prescription or over the counter, that has been prescribed or recommended by your physician without his/her consent, and inform your technician in the event continued use of any of the items listed above is required.
  • Refrain from excessive consumption of products containing caffeine the day of the procedure. These products contribute to nervousness.

Post Treatment Instructions:

  • Healing time typically is around 5 days. The day of treatment you will notice swelling in the treated area and even possibly fluid in the swollen tissue. This is normal. There may be swelling 1-2 days post procedure. We want the pigment to stay on as long as possible so please use the following post treatment plan.
  • Gently clean treated area morning and evening with tepid clear water and your clean fingertips. Pat Dry. DO NOT SCRUB OR RUB!
  • Absolutely NO soaps, cleansing creams, or chemicals may be applied to the pigmented area(s)!
  • Apply a THIN veil of Aquaphor, A & D Ointment or Vaseline 1 or maximun 2 times daily (More IS NOT better with after care ointments!).
  • IF you start to notice increased redness 1 to 2 days following treatment DISCONTINUE the ointment and contact us.
  • DO NOT wear mascara for at least 5 days.
  • DO NOT wear any type of “Waterproof” mascara for 10 days, or after the scab is completely gone.
  • DO NOT soak the treated area(s) in a bathtub, hot tub, or swimming pool for 10 days, or after the scab is completely gone.
  • DO NOT expose treated areas to the sun or tanning beds for 10 days, or after the scab is completely gone.
  • DO NOT scratch or pick any crusted or scabbed area(s). Rather, allow it to slough off naturally.
  • The treated area(s) will appear very exact, dark, intense, bright, and more sharply defined immediately after the procedure. It may appear to be too dark on your initial saturation visit, however when the healing progresses, the colors will soften and blend 30 to 40%. A perfection visit appointment to refine and finish your permanent makeup may be made four weeks following the initial procedure. There is no charge for this “perfection visit” if done within 90 days of the initial procedure.
